So much has been going on it’s been hard to stop and take a breath and write about any of it. MiCA 12/v is taking shape. We might be able to move some things in tomorrow! And the phone company will be there to give us our new phone line (513.421.3500), the alarm company will be there to make sure we’re going to be safe and sound, Paul Lashua, local metal sculptor, will be finishing off my favorite feature of the new space...800 lb slabs of steel which line the doorways between the two spaces that make up 12/v. He’ll be giving it a hand finished surface, enhancing the natural beauty of the hot rolled steel. Then there’s other important stuff going on...plumbing, lighting, - everyone is working so hard, but it’s almost done!!!
We’re so excited that the space has become just what we had hoped for. Our thanks to everyone who has helped us along the way so far!!! There’s a lot of you, and you know who you are, and we THANK YOU for your patience and support.
About the picture:
The image above is of a beautiful, limited edition, screen printed work of art, originally by an Australian artist named David Bromley, & printed on a fine linen tea towel by Third Drawer Down. Maybe it’s because my Mom’s side of the family is English, but I’ve always had a thing for tea towels. And these are quite literally works of art that are too amazing to hang on an oven door handle...but we should do it anyway. Our kitchens deserve it. Or, you can use the magnetic hangers that mount to your wall (yes, we sell them, too) and hang these as art pieces, not to be sullied by drips of olive oil and pasta sauce. These tea towels deserve it. Either way, art as everyday objects/everyday objects as art...this is something we try to be all about at MiCA. The Third Drawer Down tea towels, 12 different designs, will be available at:
MiCA 12/v. Hope to see you at our opening on the 26th!
